Requesting material not held at UOW Library

Who is eligible?

  • Academic staff
  • General staff with work-related research
  • PhD students
  • Masters students
  • Graduate Diploma students
  • Honours students
  • Students enrolled in a Dean's Scholars Program

What can I request?

Document delivery is available as a loan or copy of published material held by other Libraries, including: books, book chapters, conference papers, journal articles, published reports, audiovisual material.

Can I request a thesis?

Yes, Document Delivery will source Australian and overseas theses. For some overseas theses, instructions will be provided to you to locate and order your thesis directly from a commercial thesis vendor.

How much does it cost?

  • No cost for clients eligible for Document Delivery Services.
  • Exceptions include when the cost of the request exceeds the normal fee. The cost is debited to you or your department. You will need to complete a payment authorisation form. We will advise you of any additional charges.

How will I receive my request?

  • Most requests are filled within 5-10 days
  • If the book cannot be sourced in Australia, we will ask you if you would like us to continue searching overseas or, alternatively, purchase the item.
  • Articles or chapters from books are generally sent electronically to your UOW email address. You will be notified when the document is ready for viewing.
  • We will notify you by email when a loan item is available for you to pick up from your campus library.
  • Document Delivery items can be borrowed for 2 weeks.
