26 May - Autumn 2010
Hi there,
With assignment deadlines looming and exams on the horizon, turn to your Library for the information and help you need.

Exams are only 4 weeks away! It’s time to start preparing for your exams now. The Library holds released exam papers, exam guides and study resources, and is one of the most popular places to study.
Find out how to access released exam papers from the past three years. All exam papers we hold are now online and are accessible through the catalogue.
We have a range of resources in our collection to assist you with studying for exams or upgrading your general study skills. Use Search Guru to search for words like ‘examination study guides’ or ‘study skills’.
For help with finding information for last minute assignments or take home exams, visit Research Help in the Main Library foyer. Our friendly staff are available to help with all your research questions. Alternatively you can Email a Librarian for help for a guaranteed response within 24 hours.
The Library is a haven for quiet study, with access to computers, individual study spaces, powered desks and group study rooms. Don’t forget that Level 1 and the Law Library are designated quiet zones and are the best place to stay on track with your study.
Take advantage of our later opening hours in the lead up to exams (28 May – 20 June 2010):
Fridays: 8am - 10pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 10am – 6pm
The Library is busiest between 10am – 3pm Monday to Thursdays. Try visiting in the morning or evening weekdays, or on the weekends to ensure you get a seat! All services are available during all opening hours.

The Library Week competition, “What should the Library’s tagline be?” was hugely popular with 425 entries received across all faculties. Some serious, some funny – the quality of responses was outstanding and we would like to thank all students who took the time to enter.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday 26 May.

Rare books, from 16th century works on the origin of life to early Australian Literature by Ethel Turner and Norman Lindsay are all on display in the Panizzi Room and the Rare Books Reading Room during Library Week, and you can also view the online versions of some editions that have been digitised.

The Rare Books Reading Room will be open for you to browse on the following days:
Monday 10.00am – 2.00pm
Tuesday 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Wednesday 12.00am – 1.00pm
Thursday 12.00pm – 3.00pm
Friday 11.00am – 1.30pm

Attention all nursing and health science students. The Library is trialling the database CINAHL Plus and Nursing Reference Center until October 2010. CINAHL Plus is a research tool for all areas of nursing and allied health, including journal articles, evidence based care sheets and searchable cited references.

Nursing Reference Center is a comprehensive reference tool for clinical evidence, covering conditions, diseases, patient education, drug information, continuing education, lab and diagnosis detail, best practice guidelines, and much more.

Trial these databases before October and provide feedback on the Library’s website.

Remember, don’t struggle – ask us for help!
