Library workshops for higher degree research students
The Research Student Centre provides a variety of workshops delivered by various Units within the University and external presenters. Below is a list of the Library specific classes incorporated into the workshop series.

Your Gateway to Research at UOW
Are you a new student to UOW? A program to kick start your research and prepare you for a one on one consultation with your Liaison Librarian. Basic and advanced information search techniques in databases and catalogues; how to set up alerts; search for literature reviews in your Faculty; order items not held by UOW Library; perform cited reference searches and identify key journals in your area of research.
Finding theses: the first step to your literature review
Begin your literature search by discovering who else has written a thesis closely related to your area of research. This session will assist you to search the myriad of databases and websites in Australia and overseas and access some full text thesis for you to examine.
EndNote
EndNote is a bibliographic management program. It manages and stores references. This session will assist you to create and enter references into a library; import and search for stored references. EndNote Parts 1 & 2 is an introductory session for students who have not had prior experience with the program. More information about EndNote.
Where do I publish?
Publishing is an important aspect of your research. In this session, discover the various tools that assist you to locate conference papers and high impact journals to determine your strategic path for publishing including the ERA journals (Australian list of journals) and instructions for authors for your chosen journal.
Faculty Workshops
Organise a tailored workshop for a group of your colleagues. The Library can provide workshops on faculty specific databases, citation databases, impact factors, patents or searching legislation please contact Lucia Tome, Research Training Librarian to discuss your needs.
