Using electronic readings

What are electronic readings?

Electronic readings are original, full text printed materials (e.g. book chapters, journal articles, exam papers or lecture notes) in PDF format.

Electronic readings can be viewed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Accessing electronic readings via the Library Catalogue

To check if anything has been placed in the Short Loans Collection for your subject

  1. From the University of Wollongong Library web site, click on "Catalogue"
  2. Under "Search Electronic Readings and Short Loans Collection", click on "Subject Code"
  3. Enter your subject code (e.g. econ316) OR click on "Lecturer's Name" and enter your lecturer's name
  4. Select the location where you are studying - if multiple locations are indicated.

Sample search results

To view an electronic copy

  1. Click on the title of item marked "electronic resource"
  2. Click on "Access electronically" link
  3. Enter your UOW email username and password
  4. Click "Login" button. The electronic copy will then be displayed.

Please note: download times vary depending on a variety of factors such as modem speed, type of connection, Internet Service Provider, time of day, and whether there are any graphics in the document.
