Curriculum Resources

A range of Curriculum support material is located within the UOW Library collections. The Curriculum Resources Centre (CRC) based at the Wollongong campus, the Shoalhaven Campus Library and the Bega Valley Shire Library have a range of resources including:

• school material in most subjects.
• school syllabi and support material.
• various formats of material including books, posters, kits, maps, DVDs, audio and video cassettes, computer software, games and toys.
• children's literature.

Secondary mathematics and science curriculum support material is located at TAFE Sydney Institute, Loftus Campus Library.

Locating curriculum support material

You can locate material to support lesson plan preparation and practicums by searching the Library Catalogue. Try the following steps to locate a range of materials at a Library location close to you.

Tip: consider using a range of keywords e.g. synonyms, general or specific words. Use this planner to record useful keywords.

KLA syllabus and support material

1. Access the Library catalogue
2. Select advanced keyword search
3. Type in keywords e.g.
   english AND syllabus AND primary
   mathematics AND syllabus AND secondary
4. Select a location e.g. CRC, Shoalhaven, Loftus, Bega

Search tip:

1. Combine your keywords with AND to find items that contain all of your keywords.

Reading schemes

1. Access the Library catalogue
2. Select advanced keyword search
3. Type in keywords e.g. primary AND reader**
4. Select a location e.g. CRC, Shoalhaven, Bega

Search tips:

1. Reading schemes are located at 428.6
2. Combine keywords with AND to find items that contain all of your keywords
3. Use truncation to find variations in your keywords e.g. reader** will find reader, readers.
4. Use subject headings on catalogue records to broaden your search e.g. readers (primary)

English language support

2. Select advanced keyword search
3. Type in keywords e.g.

1. Combine keywords with AND to find items that contain all of your keywords
2. Use truncation to find variations in your keywords e.g. spell** will find spell, spells, spelling.
3. English language support material is also held at the Main Library, Wollongong Campus e.g. IELTS

2. Select advanced keyword search
3. Type in keywords

Fiction including big books, easy readers, junior fiction

1. Access the Library catalogue
2. Select advanced keyword search

3. You can limit your search to material format (see examples below).

1. When looking for software use the material type: other
2. Only one material type can be selected at a time. You may need to repeat your keyword search for various material types e.g. if looking for a DVD, also try videocassette, kit
